The story
The Dog & Pickle operates as a family-run free house gastropub in Moreton, near Harlow, presenting British and modern European cooking under Chef Patron David Smith. The venue holds two AA Rosettes, a recognition of the culinary excellence delivered through their seasonal à la carte and set menus reflecting traditional British fare and modern European cuisine.
Open fires anchor The Willow Room, the primary dining area where patrons access the boutique wine list and full menu. During warmer weather, service extends to the country garden with an outside bar and kitchen, maintaining the same standards. The bar area mirrors the Willow Room offerings, and a smart casual dress code governs all spaces.
Selected Thursdays host a five-course tasting menu with wine pairings for £69, discounting the usual £85 price. The calendar occasionally includes guest chef events, such as appearances by James Collins and Kevin Nolan.
