The story
At Restaurant Rustica in Lippstadt, Chef Miro and his wife Sanja have built a reputation around Italian and Mediterranean cuisine since taking over in May 2022. Their approach treats tradition as a foundation, blending classic techniques with fresh creative direction. The menu shifts between familiar regional comfort and contemporary plating. This balanced philosophy earned the venue a 1.5 Kochlöffel distinction from the Schlemmer Atlas.
Guests typically begin with chilled oysters before moving to heartier selections like the porcini mushroom raviolacci or a garlic oil shrimp skillet finished with chili and cherry tomatoes. The kitchen also prepares Vitello Tonnato dressed with capers, alongside baked snails resting in herb butter and Parmesan. A delicate tiramisu frequently closes the meal after these substantial plates. These Mediterranean dishes pair naturally with a curated wine list featuring one hundred twenty bottles drawn from across Europe.
The interior balances polished finishes with warm wooden elements, creating a relaxed environment that still feels intentional. Large windows frame a picturesque outdoor terrace where guests can dine during warmer months. The layout accommodates ninety seats indoors and eighty more outside, allowing room for quiet conversations or lively weekend gatherings. The straightforward execution of Italian cooking keeps the focus on shared plates and steady routines.
