The story
Paris-Moskau in Berlin grounds its French cooking in a restored 1898 half-timbered house on Alt-Moabit 141. Wolfram Ritschl acquired the property in March 1984 and reopened the space in May 1987, pairing rustic beams with clean white walls designed by painter Anke-Paula Gentner. The Schlemmer Atlas recognized this balance of rural charm and refined service with two and a half cooking spoons in its 2026 edition.
Chef Stefan Osterberger leads a five-person kitchen that prepares every dish fresh, anchoring French culinary tradition in German and Russian seasonal rhythms. Menus shift regularly, highlighting local produce and careful technique rather than fixed formulas. Current selections feature pink-roasted veal loin served with chanterelle mushrooms, potato gratin, and beurre rouge. Vegetarian options follow the same precision, relying on roasted eggplant with miso or seasonal tomato and burrata compositions.
Guests gather around the two-level dining space and an adjacent summer garden that overlooks the chancellery park. The beverage program centers on a list of roughly 220 wines spanning thirteen countries, offering French-inspired pairings for every course. Signature cocktails like Glasnost combine Kir Royal with vodka, while a rotating digestif selection closes meals. Regular visitors frequently return for these structured evenings, appreciating how the historic architecture frames both intimate conversations and larger gatherings.
