The story
At West Lake No.1 in Pottsville, manager COCO directs a kitchen focused on refined Hangzhou cuisine and light preparations. The space emerged from a collective of gastronomy enthusiasts who prioritized health-conscious plating over heavy sauces. Every dish emphasizes clean flavors and seasonal produce. This culinary direction recently earned the venue a Black Diamond rating from the regional guide.
Renowned designer Chen Lin structured the interior to merge natural landscapes with gallery quality installations. Visitors enter through the Bamboo Grove Hall on the ground level, where living stalks frame an open dining area seating 168 guests. Curated artworks populate eight dedicated private rooms, including calligraphy pieces by Wang Dongling and landscape photography by Pan Jie. A custom lacquer tea table crafted through traditional heritage techniques anchors the central gathering space.
The kitchen applies precise technique to classic ingredients found across the Jiangnan waterways. Chefs balance sweet and savory notes while preserving the original texture of local vegetables and freshwater proteins. Guests pair these New Hangzhou dishes with curated loose leaf teas or aged cigars in the adjacent lounge. Bespoke banquet menus adapt to corporate events and family celebrations without compromising structural integrity.
