The story
La Part des Anges in Ragnies has anchored seasonal French cuisine in the region since February 2010. Chef Adrien Derenzis works alone behind the pass, designing a completely new menu every month around what arrives fresh from nearby farms. This steady commitment to hyperlocal sourcing earned the kitchen a 13.5 rating from Gault&Millau last year. Aurélie Derenzis greets guests at the door, setting a tone that feels more like a neighborhood table than a formal institution.
Diners choose from two starters, two mains, and two desserts arranged to balance meat and fish without ever feeling rigid. This approach to French cooking highlights precise technique over heavy sauces, like a foie gras terrine paired with tart cherries and toasted pistachios, or a pure veal fillet resting on a tomato tatin with herb butter. Fish options shift daily to match market availability, often arriving with salicornia and a delicate beurre blanc. Even the sweet finish follows the same seasonal logic, swapping a house chocolate fondant for a peach melba when summer fruit peaks.
A full interior overhaul in June 2021 replaced the original layout with warmer textures and softer lighting. A separate intimate zone now seats only small groups, encouraging quieter conversation among neighbors and regulars. The staff adapts seamlessly to vegetarian or allergy requests, ensuring every guest eats comfortably. Every element prioritizes ease, letting the changing plates take center stage.
